Greetings and felicitations. You have found your way to the Sorcerers' Guild Forum. We are a group of like-minded followers of the Sorcerer profession in the world of Faeo. Welcome.
We are not a clan. There is no fee to join and no in-game chat channel to use. This is merely a place where Sorcerers can meet to discuss and hopefully reach agreement on issues which concern our profession. The guild will not be used as a means to drive market prices beyond reasonable levels. It will, however, seek to establish a set of policies and practices which allow sorcerers to earn a level of income on a par with the followers of other professions.
In particular, the guild will seek to avert the price wars which occasionally break out at auction and benefit no one. If someone puts a lot up at auction at a reasonable price and it comes back unsold because someone else has put an equivalent lot up at a lower price, both sellers lose. The first, on auction fees and the second on profits that would otherwise have been made had pricing guidelines been established and adhered to. If the practice of under-cutting each others prices continues, eventually it becomes impossible for anybody to make any money at market. This, in turn, tends to depress the overall global economy to the point that not even the customers benefit, as they are forced to lower their prices as well.
When market prices, particularly among sorcerers goods, had spiraled downward to the point that some lots were going up at prices below our costs, some of us decided something had to be done. A few of us got together and agreed to try to hold prices on our best selling item (Scrolls of healing) to a given level. This worked to the extent that we stopped under-cutting each others prices. Our success was limited, however, by our inability to communicate our ideas quickly to a larger audience. This forum was created in order to do just that. Please take a moment to read through our initial proposal for auction pricing policies and tell us what you think.
May your graveyard lights be always full and free of phantoms-
Beronan
| 0 | 0 | | | Rather than get into a pricing war, the guild would like to suggest that we sorcerers agree among ourselves to follow a set of pricing practices at auction. Right now, we'd like to try this on an experimental basis with just basic (Level 2/Grey) Scrolls of Healing.
The suggestion is:
Each of us put up no more than three lots of 10, two lots of 20, one each of 50 and 100 at any given time. Buy now price for 10 not lower than 8s, 15s for 20, 35s for 50, 60s for 100.
Sorcerers currently in agreement with this proposal:
1- Beronan
2- Halmir
3- sago
4- Crystal_Thorn
5- Aeribeth
Please PM Beronan (or leave a comment here) if you'd like to add your name to the list or if you'd like to discuss this idea further.
*Addendum- If a player who hasn't yet agreed to this proposal posts more lots than suggested and/or lots below the suggested price, please invite him or her to visit the forum and examine our proposal. If he or she isn't interested in participating under the terms of the agreement, we encourage posting an equivalent lot with bid and buy now price exactly 1c less than theirs and continuing to do so until either their lot gets sold, returned or the player otherwise sees the value of establishing reasonable trade policies.
